NEW
LONDON Drury Lane WC2 Designed in 1973 by Paul Tvrtkovic in
association with Sean Kenny, Chew and
Percival, on the site of theatres dating
back to Elizabethan times. Surrounded by
theatrical history, this modern theatre has a
glass facade making it almost indistinguishable
from the business buildings around it. The unknown
Richard Gere played Danny Zuko in Grease here, but
the New London most famously became the venue for
Cats in 1981 and the property of Andrew Lloyd
Webber 10 years later. The
RNT production of War Horse transferred here from
the South Bank in 2009.
Decor: Spacious brown and black foyer shared with Talk of London but two separate entrances. Nondescript Sixties breeze-block decor. Sturdy and functional. Tall windows lack a view Capacity 1106
