THEATRE The Theatre On
The Green
Designed
in
1899
by
Frank
Matcham,
the
theatre has undergone a complete
and lavish restoration. It currently presents a mixed programme of
pre-West End shows and touring plays as well as opera, dance and a
traditional pantomime at Christmas.
Decor: An attractive foyer with mahogany panelling, mirrors and crystal chandalier leads into a stunning red, cream and gold auditorium now restored to its original glory. The Dress Circle bar is beautiful and spacious, with original Victorian bar, stained glass windows and balcony overlooking The Green. Capacity 840

GREENWICH
THEATRE Opened in 1969 in the renovated
Victorian shell of Crowder's Music Hall. Also has a gallery housing
exhibitions.

REGENT'S PARK
THEATRE Founded in 1932, the New
Shakespeare Company has been in residence since 1962. The company
presents seasons of classical plays (mainly Shakespeare)
each summer from
May to September.

KING'S HEAD ISLINGTON Built in 1543, the King's Head
was founded as a pub theatre in 1970 by Dan Crawford. This famous and
eccentric fringe venue tends towards miniature musicals, neglected
classics and new plays rather than the more radical fare of other
venues.
Decor: Traditional bare-board pub with grand piano, coal fires, old-fashioned theatrical spotlight illumination, etched Victorian glass and original gas lights. The back room auditorium is set up with tables and chairs where customers can dine before the show. Capacity: 120
