GARRICK Charing Cross Road WC2 Designed in 1889 by Emden and Phipps for
WS Gilbert, for much of its history the Garrick has been associated
with farces such as those presented by Brian Rix, and No Sex Please,
We’re British. It has continued to thrive largely on a mixed diet of
comedy, comedy-drama and farce. The theatre is said to be haunted by
the ghost of actor/manager Arthur Bourchier.
Décor: Porch box office. Main foyer columned, opulent and dominated by the bar. Beautiful red and white auditorium with striped mulberry wallpaper, panelled dado and plump plaster cherubs. Capacity 656
