SADLER'S WELLS Rosebery Avenue EC1 Designed in 1931 by FGM Chancellor on the
site of a healing well. Founded by Lilian Baylis of the Old Vic. Opera,
ballet and theatre were alternated between the two until 1946, when the

It is still best known for its ballet, but contemporary dance and opera are also part of the repertoire. Also, the venue can be described as a receiving house for visiting companies with their own productions. Sadler’s Wells includes the Lilian Baylis studio theatre. Décor: Foyer carpeted, warm and buzzing with chatter under stucco beams and ceiling. Shallow-banked auditorium with dark pink wall and seats in sedate rows. Capacity: 1,500 Studio
