PHOENIX Charing Cross Road WC2 Designed in 1930 by Gilbert Scott, the
theatre was most associated with Noël Coward. It opened with Coward’s Private Lives
with the author, Gertrude Lawrence and Laurence Olivier in the cast.
Coward memorabilia is everywhere. The undistinguished exterior belies
magnificent art deco mirrored bars and foyers inside.
