Victoria on the 11:05 boat train to Ramsgate. Ferry
13:45 to Ostend. Train departs Ostend at 19:34 for
Ulm, arriving at 06:03. Change trains.
Days 2-5 7-10 June 1994 Depart Ulm 06:16, arrive 07:56 Lindau and stay four nights at Hotel Insel ![]() Hotel Insel
is a comfortable family run medium grade hotel
occupying a quiet position in the old part of
Lindau, close to the station and harbour. Well
furnished bedrooms (28 in number) with private
facilities, telephone and TV Lift, house bar.
Buffet style breakfast. No restaurant, but under
the same ownership is the historic Zum Suntzen
restaurant, 200 yards from the hotel.

special attraction of Lindau is its island
setting at the most scenic part of Lake
Constance - a 40 mile long inland waterway, the
third largest lake in Central Europe, linking
Germany with Austria and Switzerland. Two
causeways connect this handsome little town to
the mainland - one for road traffic and one
conveys the railway to a convenient point near
the harbour Behind the 'Seepromenede" and
roughly parallel with it, you find a couple of
main shopping streets and the historic core of
this ancient town. Steamers ply from Lindau to
Bregenz and Konstanz and the smaller places of
interest dotted around the lake. Meersburg is of
particular attraction. There's plenty of
interest in Lindau.
Days 6-8 11-13 June 1994 Leave Lindau
on the 11:37 train to Munich. Arrive Munich at 13:57
for transfer to the 14:50 train arriving in Salzburg
at 16:45. Stay three nights at Hotel Gablerbrau

the most beautiful city of Austria and perhaps the
most splendid urban creation in the world. A city in
the mountains - a city of music, art and
architecture. Salzburg is like a piece of baroque
Italy miraculously transferred north of the Alps.
Its whole inspiration is southern but one example of
German romanticism remains - the Castle, or Festung,
which perches on the peak of a hill; dominating the
city. From the Festung one looks out over the city,
to a magnificent mountain landscape. Salzburg is
also a holiday city, one in which the unique
atmosphere can be savoured as its pleasures are
enjoyed. Some visitors will make for Mozart's
birthplace, others the lofty Hohensalzburg fortress
- reached by funicular - the Leopoldskron Palace of
Sound of Music fame or the Mirabell Garden.
There are festivals and concerts in plenty, and
everywhere the inviting street cafes.
Day 9 14 June 1994 Leave Salzburg on the 12:09 train to Munich Arrive at 13:38 in Munich and stay one night at Hotel Amba ![]() Hotel Amba is a friendly,
medium grade family hotel situated close to the main
station and within easy walking distance of the city
centre. Nicely furnished, modern style bedrooms with
telephone, TV. Lift. Lobby lounge and bar, breakfast
rooms, no restaurant but a good choice available in
the immediate vicinity.
![]() Munich is the third largest city
in Germany, but as a holiday destination it is a
splendid and exciting experience. Much that is
of interest to the visitor is to be found in a
compact central area which has the main station
at its western corner. Architecturally it houses
such famous examples as the Nymphenburg Palace:
