Day 3
Wednesday 6 September 1978

At leisure in Rudesheim am Rhein. This popular and very lively Rhine resort is steeped in history as can be seen from the remains of the central Rhine's oldest castle, the one thousand year old Bromserburg, but it is still a town of today with a wide range of hotels, restaurants and bars; and there's the Drosselgasse (Thrush Lane), one of the world's most celebrated streets - a narrow cobbled alley pulsing to the sound of revelry. Almost all of its properties are inns! There's also a sedate side to this pretty town. A browse around a museum of mechanical musical instruments is absorbing. A cable-car trip away above the town to the Germania Monument provides a breathtaking panorama, and you can stroll along paths amongst flourishing vineyards or woodlands.

At 10.00 visit the Asbach-Uralt distillery. Make your own arrangements for lunch. At 14.00 there is an inclusive boat trip on the Rhine to the famous Lorelei Rock, returning to Rudesheim at approximately 18.45. Dinner will be at 20.00 at the Hotel Felsenkeller.
Day 4
Thursday 7 September 1978
Morning at leisure in Rudesheim. Possibility of a trip by cable car to the sight-seeing point on the upper reaches of the Niederwald (price not included in the package and is 4.0 DM return). Here one can visit the Monument and the Eagle Sanctuary

All things must come to an end and in the early afternoon you will leave Rudesheim for Koblenz where you will board the 'Rhein Express' for the Hook of Holland. You will be required to make your own way to the railway station for the return train home. Please do not be late.

Depart 15.20  Rudesheim. Arrive 16.05 Koblenz. Change trains. Depart 17.31 Koblenz. Arrive 23.28 Hook of Holland. This is an international service and Dutch customs formalities may be performed during your journey. Please have your passport or identity card with you at all times during your stay.
