Day 1 Sunday
LONDON - OSTEND - BRUSSELS - COLOGNE

There's a seat for you in our specially reserved coaches on the 7.30 a.m. train from London Victoria to Dover or Folkestone, with Channel crossing to Ostend. With your luxury touring coach you're off through Brussels to Cologne where you'll stay at Hotel Rubens.

Day 1 Tour Notes: From Ostend the tour proceeds along the fast motorway across the plain of Flanders to Brussels, the capital of Belgium. The city is full of notable places but the best known is the Grand Place in olden days as now the market square of Brussels. We continue our journey and pass through Louvain and St Trond to cross the frontier into Germany and onto the autobahn through the Eifel region. We reach the River Rhine and come to the famous cathedral city of Cologne
where we have our dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2 Monday
COLOGNE - RHINE STEAMER - ULM
First you follow the Rhine Valley south. At St Goar you board the steamer, to pass through the river's most legendary stretch - grand scenery for your picnic lunch aboard. After an unscheduled tour of the Asbach Uralt distillery in Rudesheim the afternoon's drive takes you to Ulm in Southern Germany where you'll stay at Hotel Lehrertal.

Day 2 Tour Notes: This morning we travel to the West German capital of Bonn and having joined the River Rhine we travel along its banks, passing Bad Godesberg, Remagen, Andernach and Koblenz soon to reach St Goar where we leave our coach temporarily and board a Rhine steamer for our journey to Assmannshausen. We rejoin our coach and travel past Wiesbaden to reach the cathedral town of Ulm where we have our dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3 Tuesday
ULM - MAURACH IN TYROL

By lunchtime, you'll be high in the Tyrol, at Gasthof Vier Jahreszeiten in Maurach, where you'll stay for the week.

Gasthof Vier Jahreszeiten is only 400 yards from the lake shore, but right alongside Maurach's new indoor swimming pool, less than 10 minutes from the centre of the village. Potted plants line the window-sills of the fresh little cafe-restaurant in front, and the owner, Mr. Wegscheider, supervises the cooking himself.

Have a drink here in the evening. Between the Gasthof and the new pool there's a handy little sunbathing lawn and alongside, the softly lit lower level Seestueberl with background music. Rooms are beautifully clean; a few with shower (supplement £2 per person).

Day 3 Tour Notes: This morning we travel southwards along the Iller Valley and come to the ancient town of Memmingen after which we reach Kempten, the capital of the German Allgau district. Still travelling southwards we reach the frontier and enter the Austrian Tyrol where our route takes us through the famous resorts of Reutte and Lermoos to Nassereith. From here we travel past Obsteig and come to Telfs  where we join the River Inn and follow its course to Zirl and Innsbruck. We continue our journey along the River Inn and pass through Solbad Hall and Schwaz and soon leave the Inn Valley road near Jenbach to travel uphill to the picturesque Lake Aachen and our resort of Maurach.

Day 4 Wednesday to Day 9 Monday
AT LEISURE IN MAURACH

A pretty little village scattered along the flat, green valley floor, flanked by pine slopes with the peaks of the Karwendel across the blue lake. Maurach is 3,000 feet up, on the south shore of the Achensee - the largest et the Tyrol lakes: you can swim, row, sail or take marvellous walks in the mountains (funicular and chair-lifts to the Rolan peaks). There are excursions as well, to other parts of the Tyrol, and into Germany and Italy. The Maurach inns provide a simple form of
entertainment in the evenings. [Day 7 Saturday morning: Off-tour for overnight stay in Salzburg at Hotel Pitter. Day 8
Sunday afternoon: Rejoin tour in Maurach.]

Days 4 - 9 Tour Notes: We spend the next six days at Maurach which is the principal summer resort on the Achensee, and set amongst magnificent mountainous countryside. Maurach offers a great deal of interest to its visitors but many of our clients will no doubt welcome the opportunity of visiting other places of interest in the locality and your courier will be on hand throughout your stay to give you full details of optional excursions arranged.
